Everything leading up to the night was absolutely brilliant, The room looked stunning when we walked in – the effort for every little detail just made it a very special night!
When I started attending events I was an Admin Assistant and had dreamt of becoming a PA – I never really thought I would ever get to that point or that it would just take me ages to get there. However after joining the Crystal Documents family and in just a few months becoming what I always wanted to be, made me realise it’s not how long it will take you to reach a goal, it is how hard you try and that when you treat someone’s else’s business as if it’s your own you will do whatever it takes to look after it.
I felt so nervous on the night I was shaking like a leaf (probably just as much I was when I went for my interview) but so excited at the same time I probably could just of exploded!
It was great catching up with all the other PA’s that had been shortlisted, everyone was so supportive of one another.
I am honoured to have won this award and shocked really, but I’m more shocked about my grandads dancing!!
Line Manager of the Year Sponsored by PWC
"The build-up to the evening was exciting; nominations, shortlisting and then interviews were great fun and I don't think as PA's we do realise the impace this has had on so many. The evening was wonderful. It was a great occassion and so nice to be in such good company; many of us with family support, as well as friends and colleagues sitting alongside us. Winning the Line Manager of the Year award will take time to sink in, and it appears to be something which will continue to be a part of my success for 2015, and beyond as the news spreads across the Manchester business sector and the Global Mercer empire".

Tracey Newell - BDO
"I have been working as a PA for over 30 years and never for one moment expected winning such a fantastic award for what I (and probably most of my peers) consider ‘part of the day job’. I felt very honoured to have been nominated in the first place and then to get to shortlist was a little mind-numbing.
As most will have seen my face on the night, I never expected to win as there was such strong competition in my category and I had convinced myself that Maria was going to get the award. However I am very grateful and humbled by it and would like to thank everyone who nominated, shortlisted and awarded me the prize".
Above and Beyond Sponsored by ITV
“To find out I was even nominated I was shocked and absolutely thrilled, the anticipation of waiting to find out if I was shortlisted was unbearable, and to win was a complete shock.
The build up to the event was palpable, and the support from all the shortlisted PA’s was inspiring. I’ve made some lovely new friends through this process that I hope will become better friends as time goes on, and I attend more of the Manchester PA Networking events.
How amazing to have awards dedicated to the recognition of those who work so hard to assist others in Manchester, thank you to Robert Walters and Manchester PA Network for making their dream a reality – next year can only be bigger and better! The event was amazing, and something that I won’t forget for some time to come.
I’ve always loved being a PA, supporting others and being someone that people rely on is a role I’ve always enjoyed – being a PA, you’re often the lifeline in an office environment, and I believe you’d be hard pushed to find a PA that doesn’t go above and beyond in their role on a regular basis. However, to be recognised for doing exactly that was incredibly special, knowing my efforts at Peel Media hadn’t gone unrecognised was amazing, and something that I will cherish for a very long time”
Best Business Initiative Sponsored by Review Travel
The Manchester Camerate
"I joined the Manchester PA Network to find like-minded women who vallued the profession of PA/EA and who aimed to always provided a high level, professional service. The support and friendship I have received has been invaluable. I was appointed at the Manchester Camerata as an EA earlier this year and implemented some systems to improve efficiencies. It was a surpirse that I had been nominated for the Business Initiative Award in the Manchester PA of the Year Awards and it was an honour.
To win the award category, amongst so many amazing women was indeed humbling. From the moment we arrived at the awards ceremony there was a marvellous camaraderie in the room. The room was elegant and colour (to suit our personalities) and the evening ran very smoothly but one could expect no less from such a fearless band of warriors as the Manchester PA Network team and Robert Walters.
The hightlight of the evening for me was not in the winning but the joyous celebration from all the ladies in the room - those who had been nominated and those who had not, to be recognised by those in the know is true recognition".

"Wow - who knew so much could happen in 24 hours to leave me feeling both exhausted & exhilarated at the same
On the night I was feeling a little bit queasy with both nerves & excitement. The anticipation of waiting for the announcement was almost too much to bear.
What an amazing evening. Without wishing to sound twee, you could feel the love in the room. We were all genuinely pleased for our fellow nominees and we were all so happy for each other as each category winner was announced. And the partying continued afterwards with family & friends - eventually falling into bed at 3am.
I was so proud to be recognised by my peers for my efforts in supporting and publicising the network. And yes, you're right I'm still responding to Social Media messages of congratulations a week later. I may have to put the hashtag #stillsmiling permanently on all my tweets.
Thank you MPAN for the last 4.5 years. I have made some wonderful friends, attended fantastic events (some of them giving me a chance to dress up - 50s bowling was a personal favourite), felt immense pride at completing the 10k in 2014 and contributing to the £50k fundraising total for The Christie.
Thank you for all your hard work and your continued efforts to raise the profile of the PA in the NorthWest - the awards night was surely the icing on the cake! "
The Robert Walters Excellence Award Sponsored by Robert Walters
"After attending the first MPAN event in 2011 I never expected the network to be holding PA Awards and that I would be shortlisted for one. I was so proud to be nominated and never expected to be shortlisted and absolutely shocked to actually win an award.
I have met some great friends and re-connected with old colleagues at the MPAN events. The build up to the awards and support we all received and gave each other was amazing. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated, shortlisted and won an award, we should all be proud of what we have achieved.".
"Wow, what an amazing night. From the red carpet and glitzy dresses to teh fab raffle prizes and entertainment, this certainly was an evening to remember. Thank you Manchester PA Network for putting everything together in making this a magical night. A million thank you's go to PwC for putting me forward for an award and not forgetting Robert Walters for selecting me from all the marvellous PA's in the Manchester area. A special mention must go to all the PA's who were nominated for these awards and I am sure that they will be back next year to claim the crown.
I can only describe that winning the Lifetime Achievement Award must be the utmost accolade for Secretarial Services and the trophy is one that I will treasure always".
The Manchester PA of the Year 2015
Finding out I had been nominated for an award was a very proud moment. It was tough being up against two fabulous fellow members and I'm sure other shortlisters felt this way in their own categories. I thoroughly enjoyed the interview process. It was nice to sit down and take the time to realise just how much I do outside of the job description. To me it's just who I am and what I do but to others it seems so much more.
The banter and shortlisters dinner all added to the excitement of the awards and I think I spent nearly every spare moment on social media in the week running up to the awards.
The room looked amazing, everyone so glamorous, even the gents looked dazzling in their black tie. As always MPAN, Robert Walters and Make Events had pulled out all the stops and every single detail made us PAs feel so valued and important. As the awards were announced there were no disappointed faces, the whole of the audience were supportive and happy for each and every winner.
Then came the shock of my life when I was announced as Manchester PA of the Year. I was so greatly humbled and honoured to have received this accolade.
